Hi David, Im David too...

Domestic security is going to be predicated on a couple of different things, very important in your decision to enter this career.

1. Most Executive Protection (EP) work in the States will be centered around metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, New York, Miami, etc... therefore trying to find work in smallville USA is going to be a challenge, so most EP guys live within these areas.

2. While you have a strong military background, you will need to seek reputable domestic training. Be careful of the schools that offer you riches and fake jobs. The fact of the matter, there isnt a credible school that will arbitrarily offer a promise to an unknown person over the telephone, that is a scam to get you to sign up for some fake background check, and a "registration fee" whatever that means.

3. Network, everyone you meet, let them know what you do, network with guys in the industry, talk to local companies in your area of operation (where you plan on living and working when you get stateside).

4. Figure out what you want to actually do in this profession... where do you see yourself in 5 years? You cant have something, unless you have seen it first - visualize what you want, and work backwards!

hope this helps... if you want to shoot me a PM I'd be happy to answer any other questions.

Dave

Hey bro,
I'm serving right now too, waiting for the clock to run out. They won't give me what I want for re up options, so I'm getting close to the 12 month jitters.

Being 11B will probably help you out a lot with practical knowledge. When you're being looked at by employers.
Good luck with the ETS. If you end up in LA, I'll buy you a beer.
