Hello all,

I am new to this site and have a few questions some of you may be able to answer for me.
I am currently seeking a training facility in the SoCal area (Preferably San Diego area) that offers Executive protection training/ CA Guard card Certs.

The trick is I am a Veteran (USMC 9 years active duty) and the VA is going to pay for my career training in order for me to find employment.
Therefore they are going to want to pay for ONE program, since I know you have to acquire a CA guard card to work security here I am trying to find a CREDITABLE training facility that has a package for CA Guard card training AS WELL AS an EP training package and certification.
Like I said I would like to find one course wrapped into one so it can be covered all at once from the VA. Otherwise I think if I have them pay for the guard card training and cert they will tell me that I am trained and ready to work for $9 an hour somewhere doing unarmed security which I am trying to advoid.

I already have a plethora of security and tactics training over the course of 12 years, but have never recieved CA State certs for the training because I got the training either in The Marine Corps or at the Nuclear power plant that I used to work at in San Onfre.

Anyway any input would be appreciated!
Thank you

We have six, 2-day EP course modules beginning in September 2009. We offer as an option a California EP package which consists of CA Guard Card, CA Exposed Weapon, CA CCW with a Utah/Fl CCW option. Our 2-3 day courses each build on each other. We are located just south of MCAS Miramar in San Diego and use several different excellent private training areas. Here's a breakdown of the courses:

- Executive Protection 1
- High-risk first responder / Bodyguard medic
- Protective Intelligence-Advance Work/Route & Site Surveys, Surveillance Detection
- Tactical Firearms for EP specialists
- Combatives for Armed Professionals - Disarms / Barrel strikes etc
- Advanced EP Tactics - Live fire vehicle drills, med scenarios, full mission profiles, etc

The Lead instructors currently work EP in Mexico and have worked in numerous high-risk locations, Iraq, Beirut, Bosnia and Africa as well as medium/low risk assignments in Europe and here in the States.

These are not "PSD" courses, but bodyguard courses based on worst-case scenarios, designed to make you proficient at the core skills of protection by showing you the right way to protect a client anywhere, in the States, Mexico, or internationally. We have taken lessons learned from high-risk assignments and applied them to all areas of the profession from Immediate action drills to proven combat medicine techniques which are simple and take little equipment but are just not taught in conventional first responder or EMT courses.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Rick
