"We take the security of our consumers' information very seriously and are committed to helping our consumers protect their personal data." What a relief!!! :D

One after the other, huge databases fall to hackers, jeopardizing the personal and financial security of millions.

You guys know I'm something of a technophobe convinced that it's just a matter of time before the grid becomes self-aware. Meanwhile, we keep uploading all the information mankind ever had into it like squirrels socking away nut after nut for the winter. And we make sure that ALL things mechanical communicate with each other for convenience's sake.
Could be a good thing. Could signal the beginning of the end. I dunno and don't care much, because it's inevitable.

Last time I bought a cell (4 YEARS ago), I specifically asked for a stupid phone. The Verizon employee looked at me with a blank stare so I added, "You sell smart phones, right? Well, I want the opposite of that." All cells were already stuffed with GPS and browsing capabilities, unfortunately. Like, by law. Really.

But I'm also beginning to wonder whether hackers won't be the cure to an all-knowing entity of our own creation. Actually, I know they will. It's in The Matrix... :D

And now don't forget to share family photos and videos, birth, employment, and military records with the rest of the world. Don't leave home without a GPS-enabled device on (or in!) you either. Does your car talk to you yet? Oh, it will.
