... professionally speaking?

It's just too good an excuse to walk around with a mask on, know what I mean?

I hear you on this one!
I was doing residential work at a well publicised "Reality Show" home in Los Angeles last year. And yes, the occupants wanted to hand out candy. The good thing was that the candy only lasted for a very short while. The bad thing was that I had the rest of the night to go!
Very entertaining to say the least!

Did you have to answer the door every time someone rang?! Bummer...

I was mostly thinking of jobs inside businesses, where people will show up all dressed up as soon as it's dark out. They could be out to rob or case the place and there's not much we can do (some masks don't come off easy).
But that's the former security guard in me thinking there, just like when some holidays mean fights and drunks to me.

I hear you on residential assignments, though. If the clients have young kids, it's not unusual to have to escort them during their "activities" in the neighborhood. Not exactly my idea of fun, especially when they bring all their friends, but hey...

This particular home had a hard wired intercom system, so every time a passerby would press the intercom, it would ring the house phone! This kept us on our toes daily, especially at night when the residents where sleeping. We would monitor the CCTV and attempt to anticipate a "fan" approaching the house (which was located right on the street in Hollywood,Ca.) This was always eventful on the weekends right around the time all the bars on the strip let out. As I mentioned, this was a well publicised residence.
I hear you as well regarding the masks and costumes. I feel for the liquor store clerks and the mom and pop stores that the street trash prey on.

This strongly reminds me of a particular celebrity's house that had been shown on a reality show. Fans from around the world would come to see it at any time of day or night, screaming the name of the celeb from the street or even the gate. Colorful characters, too, Halloween-worthy but year-round...

Thankfully, security could remore-control the outside lawn sprinklers! That would disperse all manners of ghouls... :D
