"Green Berets vs. Spetsnaz": a rerun, but I just caught that episode for the first time today. A joke, like the rest of the series, but anyone else watched it?

You can catch it here, Wolf (assuming you have nothing better to do :D): http://www.spike.com/full-episode/green-beret-vs/32039

They gave a slight edge to the Spetsnaz. They liked their ballistic knife and our SF guys screwed up in the night shoot, so the judges also preferred the Makarov to the M9...

Before anybody blows a fuse, this is pure entertainment, and it's obviously impossible to determine the outcome of match-ups like: Knight Vs. Pirate, Samurai vs. Viking, etc.
I can't wait for the Alien vs. Predator episode. :)

Those interested in picking the show apart can find a discussion here:
http://www.spike.com/video/aftermath-green/3171579, where some of the participants explain the results.
Obviously, it's not easy to put together a one-hour show with actual weapons (go find live grenades in California!) and personnel, or showing still-classified tactics or gear.

They pitched the Mossberg 590 against the Saiga, and gave advantage Saiga because it's a semi. The Green Berets argued that they would've brought a Benelli, then. The Spetsnaz said that the Saiga used was a civilian version.
And one of the ex-Spetsnaz had been living in Canada for a decade, without access to firearms, so how's that for fairness?
Also they were forced to use NVG for the shoot, but the weapons weren't suppressed, etc., etc.

There's also a lot of editing tricks used to pack everything in an hour and make the show more... exciting. Most of the annoying smack talk is instigated by the producers to give the show a "wrestling" vibe.

All in all, pretty juvenile and not to be taken seriously, but entertaining enough: I just love seeing s**t blown up or mannequins sliced and shot.
One Green Beret hit a dummy in the head with his entrenching tool and popped its "brains" out!

The Spetsnaz came across as cocky, but tough bastards, and they reminded me of some Israeli guys I know, especially at the range with all their rolling around...
