I was just curious what type of radios they use on protection details
and what to look for as far as features and are the radios set with multiple
channels to work with other in coming teams or not

I currently use the Mototrbo hand-helds. Lots of features, reliable, tough. It depends on the detail, and OPSEC, regarding a freq sharing comm plan. It's generally viewed on a case by case basis.

Purely a user so I can't help much, but I like that MotoTRBO. It looks thinner than the bulky duty-grade portables we're usually issued on details. Had one last night for party-duty under a suit and it was a little much.
And I've had bad luck with 2 Motorola cell phones, but their portables have been rock-solid, IME.
Agents who puchase their own coms, often for small details such as two-man teams or to hand a radio to a client, usually get Talkabouts.
Not talking about government or high-end details here.

I honestly have to say that radio comm is probably one of my weakest subjects.. Not talking on it but just the general knowledge... Guess I need to do some reading on the subject
