story from the new guy...

so I was working for a very well known musician last year in europe and its in december and we're on a tour bus going from calais,france to dover england on the ferry for a show in London its 5 in the AM and the bus driver (a former s.a.s medic and royal scottish guard) decides its a good time to refuel for petrol at a sun station. next thing you know the little scotsman comes running up the steps screaming "Sumo wake up mate we've got stow-a-ways!! and thier armed!" now mind you first thought that goes through my mind is its the 2nd week of a long tour this guy should not be messing with me just yet, but as a true professional I stumble into the snow in a tank top adidas soccer shorts and flip-flops with my glock at the ready scaring the piss out of the locals mind you i make it back to the trailer where the gear is (and where the excitable scottsman is pointing his cricket bat) I give him the nod to engage the lever on the side to pop open the trailer doors and I tactically pull off a look see in the trailer which I see 3 dark skinned fellows one of them holding a large bayonet type of knife but no one else seemed armed I step into the opening still being cautious and two guys start crying and the guy with the bayonet throws it behind a flight case containing an amp and starts screaming in arabic (my wife is lebanese-egyptian and I learned arabic during our courtship) I say "I don't want to hurt you i need you to get out of the trailer and make thier way away from the vehicle" in arabic and he looks even more scared and starts screaming and crying louder "do you understand me?" i ask again in arabic and this time he stops and nods "I need you to repeat what i asked you to do back to me" I tell him in arabic and apparently my arabic is a little rusty because he says in broken english "you say you going into my ass because i make my way with your land" I was using the word for "behind" or "ass" because i didnt know the word for trailer and i used a general term for property or land for car and i didnt conjugate the verb cuz when i told my wife about she laughed and said "if a guy told me he was entering my ass because i was on his land" "and he had a gun pointed at me... I would have cried too" just one of many seemed like a good time to share

Awesome story, Sumo! Never underestimate people's imagination or overestimate the value of eye witnesses, right? I had a maid make me do a full search of a very large residence once because she was afraid of ghosts and kept hearing noises. That one time, the dog was also staring at a door leading to the interior of the house, so I went, "here we go again", grabbed .45 & SureFire, and combed the whole damn place (the house and all its gigantic closets were clear).
As you said, security can't ignore tips and hunches and you don't dial 911 for stuff like that - that's why we get paid the big $$$... :bond:

For those who don't know, Arabs, in particular North-Africans, but really all ethicities up to East-Europeans at one time, can be found as stowaways in cars, ships, trains, planes, and obviously... buses in Western Europe. Here we're more used to migrants from south of the border, of course, and finding hidden Arabs would cause much alarm...

yes LT that is correct if I am not mistaken in my recognition of dialect (which I am better at than my actual speaking of of the language) they were algerian more than likely immigrant-worker types didnt mean any harm but harm or not when I am tired or cold or both good chance someone might get shot if they dont do what the hell you tell them too. j/k I promise i wouldnt shoot someone for such small offenses...much
