Do clients prefer EP agents to be armed or unarmed

Wow, it completely depends. And then you have those who want exposed or concealed. But most are blissfully unaware of California firearms laws and BSIS regs.
I have seen a detail where the client was anti-gun and had specified no firearms, and some where they wanted "big guys", but in general, I think the discussion hinges mainly on rates.
Frankly, a lot of things are often left unsaid and the clients assume a lot about armed or LE status, for example. If the agents are in plain clothes and they look "professional", a lot of questions never even come up.
IME, the majority request protection and don't even worry about the specifics.
And again IME, if you dress, look, and act the part, gun or not, LEO or not, SF or not - it won't matter.

Well that makes sense.......I am glad to hear that do the fact that I don't have a CCW right now.

Only real "sine qua non" condition I'm aware of is to be squared away. The rest (CCW, MA, LEO, built like a refrigerator) is often desirable but can be overlooked. Don't let any "shortcoming" stop you from applying anywhere. If they need you, and if you get to meet them in person and impress them enough, you'll get your foot in the door.
The CCW situation in CA sucks, as we well know, but won't prevent good guys from working.
Where it comes into play sometimes is your pay scale rate. Agents who are armed can command a better rate but it does not make them better. As far as security companies go they charge clients more when have "armed" agents do a job. Black, i'm going to im with some info. Geo
