In my opinion, it is easier to find full time work in a developing/3rd world country. In the US, you can get many part time gigs, one night jobs where a V.I.P is going out on the town (especially if you work for a firm that finds these jobs for you). Of course there are many politicians, Actors/Actresses, affluent families and V.I.P's there too that are needing full time Close Protection, I just think there is more competition for those positions. You can come to a third world country and only hear about there being a few American owned Security firms in the whole country. And, it seems, European and North American clients are looking for North American employees to fill those types of positions.
Also, if you wanted work in a foreign country...having a foundation in that countries language would be kind of a pre-requisite.
And believe me...I am NOT trying to sell you on this idea. It is simply up to what kind of personality type you have and what type of Close Protection work you are interested.
Some Executive Protection jobs in the States are more low key and you are providing mostly peace of mind to your Principal by giving him smooth transport from point A to B with him able to give his undivided attention to his business or family. Office/home security and the occasional night excursions for parties or fine dining. Then the sparse trips here and there for either business or pleasure. This would be the low-profile V.I.P.
Or, you can find yourself in Mexico City or Rio de Janeiro, Brazil wondering if today is the day you have to encounter fully automatic gun fire.
Although, I am certainly not the guy to give out career advice. The guys that run this site are very experienced and would be able to point you in the most practical direction.
