Great read on your website Karl! You are an important fellow with premier credentials. Welcome to the forum - I am very interested in learning from your input.
My favorite portion of your website was your mention about: "Learning to speak so the Texas accent didn't come out later in life...tough!" I was born and raised in Texas as well (26 years there). Thank goodness both of my parents were motivated in making sure their children didn't speak like a cowboy. I personally believe it is difficult to thrive in business with a slow, southern draw. Makes for lousy first impressions.

It's good to hear from someone in South America! I know you're in Costa Rica but something you might find interesting is that I'm currently training (as a private student) the brother of Brazil's Leandro Barboza of the NBA (Phoenix Suns). Actually, in September, we are inducting Leandro Barboza as an Honarary Member of the International Bodyguard and Security Services Association.
So how is EP in Costa Rica?
Karl
Thanks so much Karl!!! We appreciate the support and glad to see you getting involved in our community ..... I will send you an email this week.
Thanks
Alex

Karl, please pardon the delayed response,
That is interesting news about the brother of Leandro Barboza.
The EP scene in Costa Rica is growing - along with the incline of general crime, car-jackings, kidnappings and attacks against the affluent.
The problem that I am seeing frequently is: EP/BodyGuard/Close Protection firms from the USA are coming here to set up shop, ONLY to close down very soon. I am here to tell you that it is almost impossible to do business here unless you are a citizen or a native. The laws make it very difficult for you to do anything down here if you are a foreigner. Being a private contractor, you are more free to employment. But these guys that are coming down and setting up an office and trying to provide public service, are coming and going - and worst of all, LOSING a massive amount of funds in the process.
The influx of Colombian immigrants/illegals here is causing the majority of the increase of severe crime. These guys don't mess around. They don't mug and snatch purses...they are kidnapping, car-jacking and performing very well planned home invasions in HIGHLY secure neighborhoods. They are also able to be paid between $100 - $500 dollars to 'eliminate' ANY target here in Central America.
