This also relates to solicitations from any California PPO, or non licensed PPO!

My name is Jeffrey Mason and I am the current Chief of the California Bureau
of Security and Investigative Services. I am sending a quick note to notify
you of the Bureaus' new efforts to reduce Craigslist ads from unlicensed
individuals offering investigative services. As a user of Craigslist, we
thought you would find this information useful.
The Bureau is now actively reviewing Craigslist to locate ads posted by
unlicensed individuals offering investigative services. Every ad is
reviewed for business name and license number, both of which are validated
against the BSIS data base. Any ad that cannot be verified as from a
licensed PI is reported to Craigslist and is submitted to the Bureau's
Enforcement Unit for possible referral to the local District Attorney for
prosecution.
We are also now posting a consumer alert on Craigslist to educate the public
on hiring licensed investigators and how to verify licensure via the BSIS
web site at http://www.bsis.ca.gov/online_services/verify_license.shtml.
One way you can assist us in this effort is by posting your license number
in your ad. This provides us a quick way to verify your status and will
help avoid an accidental reporting of your ad to Craigslist. This also
helps educate the public on what to look for and displays the high standards
you have personally met to obtain licensure.
Once again, thank you for your assistance.
