I personally find Celebrity Worship pathetic from a societal viewpoint but unfortunately have to admit, sites like Gawker Stalker and now the newly launched Top Stalker site, which enables any user to upload photos of celebrities and share them, will help keep those in famous figure protection in continued employment!
Top Stalker users are encouraged to upload their photos of the famous and include details such as name, date, and location, and the site updates its most popular photos hourly and offers a real-time stream for each notable personality, complete with dates and maps. Comments can be posted on photos, and users receive awards for becoming "stalkers." Photos and comments can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, and other social-media sites.
The site also offers a free iPhone app that allows users to browse and post photos.
Top Stalker founder Kate Casey said:
"It's no secret that fans everywhere are fascinated with what celebrities are really like in their everyday lives. Top Stalker is the place where you can share your celebrity sightings, post gossip, and catch a glimpse of what your favorite celebrity looks like in real-life."

Sure enough, one current client is on that site. (We need a barfing smilie!)

Same here, savior, same here. I was just watching E!News last night while repressing the inevitable recurring gag reflex... Who's dating who, saying what, worst-dressed, etc. High school BS for (barely) grown-ups.
The flip side, as you note, is that the unhealthy interest of the masses in our clients keep us employed. And also that the resources (tabloid rags, sites, and TV shows) set up to cater to our potential opponents (paps, stalkers, crazy fans) can be monitored to our advantage. I know I keep a close watch on this, for example: http://www.hotelsoftherichandfamous.com/celebrities.cfm
So, Top Stalker, huh? Saved - thanks!
The choice of the word itself (stalking is criminal) is in very bad taste, BTW and IMO.

Yes LT there's no doubt that the internet, especially through sites like Gawker and twitter fuel the psychosis of the mentally disordered.
After a period of frustration with several of our clients whom decided to go onto Twitter (much to our objection) I finally decided to go on myself. Not actually as my self but as an attractive nineteen year old female.
After creating this false profile, I engaged in dialogue with several offenders that we were/are interested in.
My objective was to attempt to transfer their focus onto me and away from our clients. Although I have been more than successful at getting their attention, I have not been overly sucessful in curbing their desire to pursue our clients.
Like all good stalkers they have proved capable of having multiple targets of interest!
It has however, proved to be a cost efficient and effective way to gather intel and information to supplement the physical investigation of these individuals.

Being a 60 year old haggard deported Brooklyn boy even the thought of passing for an unseen 19 year old anything scares me, lol.
By the way Savior, thank you for the very credible Dubai referral that Tina sent me.
Many of you know that I have only one client and he is a very intimidating individual who most people avoid and no one stalks. Makes my job much easier as I visit numerous places in the US and around the world where celebrities and sports figures play. I do not envy but highly respect those professionals having the difficult task of protecting those individuals who are constantly playing to the public. It creates never ending issues for the agents such as Savior and LT mention.
Operating my investigation business which specializes in asset & financial matters is much less problematic than what many of you face in your daily work. You have my utmost respect.
Stay healthy, focused and prosperous.
Cordially, Sonny

You're pushing "taking one for the client" to a new level, savior... Now that's dedication! :D
This, and what Sonny referred to, is what makes me normally stay away from celebrity work. It's not so much the fame part - it's the circus and the games played by all parties.
I'm currently part of the estate detail of a couple in showbiz, and although they're much more sane and unpretentious than most... it's still a constant battle with nosy fans, stalkers, paparazzi, the moochers, and everything else. It's getting to me a bit, frankly. And it's amazing the intel that the paps have.
About the new (to me) internet resources, another client, completely anonymous that one, had been threatened by a former employee (who happened to be something of a gun nut, which always takes it to another level). Being tasked with escorting the client to court (R.O. renewal) last year, the company did provide me with some info on the threat, but only after I had already obtained photos and DOB of the character from his LinkedIn profile, and printed out his mug for my partner and myself. Ah, progress...
